Free online comic books - a recommendation

There are so many free online comics, many of which are true modern classics, that it's often difficult to know where to start when you're a fan of the genre like I am. Searching the Open Directory Project (see is often a good start-point. Back in England now...

...for a few months at least, and it's really cold and miserable weather, even for England. It's the middle of May, late spring. It's supposed to be nice weather! I thought the Earth was warming up? :-)
